In Madikeri we stayed in a charming place called the
Rainforest Retreat, a non-profit eco-tourism outfit in the middle of the forest. The owners of the retreat are passionate about sustainable agriculture, and we learned all about the types of organic farming techniques they use to grow cardamom, vanilla, coffee, and other crops. All the food we ate during our stay was freshly prepared using organic fruits and veggies from the farm. And the coffee, locally grown and blended, was amazing.

This is the driest time of year, so it didn't feel as wet as we expected a rainforest to be, but it was green and beautiful.
