On day two in Madikeri, we rented a taxi with a few people we'd met at our hotel and drove out to see some nearby attractions. Our first stop was the Dubare Elephant Training Camp.

The elephants were beautiful, but it was sad to see them with chains on their legs. Apparently they were being trained to work for the government's forestry department (logging?) and a few would be chosen for an annual local festival procession.
