We spent our last few days in Goa in Panjim, the capital city. Goa used to be a Portuguese colony, and you can see that influence in parts of the city. Chris had gotten sick by this point in our trip, so Satya and I left him at our hotel and wandered around the city. Charming narrow lanes with brightly painted houses, balconies teeming with flowers, streetside cafes serving pastries, middle-aged women in flowered dresses speaking Portuguese -- you hardly felt like you were in India.

My favorite place in Panjim was Hotel Venite, where after a long day of shopping and wandering, Satya and I ate a leisurely dinner on one of their tiny balconies and sipped feni cocktails. I want to go back to Goa, just to eat there again.
